Bellingham in Franschhoek has been the home of intriguing wines with their own unique and charming character for centuries.

It was here, over three centuries ago, that virgin soil was tilled and the first vines planted. Since then, Bellingham’s viticulturists and winemakers have lovingly nurtured the vines and carefully crafted wines of great character.

Today the Bellingham wines are made at DGB’s cellar in Wellington by award-wining winemaker Niël Groenewald, but you can still visit the original Bellingham homestead in Franschhoek.

The Bellingham winemaking approach is one of minimal intervention. Time-honoured methods are combined with measured technological expertise to create great value premium wines true to variety and origin.

Time and attention is appropriated to every stage of production with a particular emphasis on mouth-feel and preserving the natural fruit character.

Subtle barrel maturation that enhances the structure and complexity of the wines without overpowering the inherent varietal ensures vibrancy and broad appeal in both the red and the white wines.

The Bellingham Collection

The Tree Series is a small family of wines named after trees that grow at the original Bellingham homestead in Franschhoek. They capture the happy-go-lucky times with friends and family outdoors, and are made to be enjoyed in the warmth of the South African sunshine.

The abundant fresh fruit and produce kept the Bellingham homestead’s kitchen filled with the finest home-grown ingredients and inspired the enticing labels of the Insignia Series. Modern and innovative, these wines are conceived by contemporary global trends in style and cutting-edge methods and technology.

The viticultural soils of South Africa’s winelands are some of the most ancient in the world. These weathered soils are still the bedrock of our Cape vineyards and the inspiration for the fine Ancient Earth range of wines.
