The Cottages
We have one 2-bedroom cottage (Obiqua) and two 1-bedroom cottages (Saronsberg & Winterhoek). All are very spacious and luxurious, and have stunning views of the mountain ranges after which they are named. All are fully equipped for self-catering.
Each cottage has air conditioning and a fireplace in the living area, and panel wall heaters and ceiling fans in the bedrooms.
The cottages are furnished in a country style with white Percale bedding. Both of Obiqua's bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, and Saronsberg and Winterhoek each have their own bathrooms. All bathrooms are wood-panelled with large walk-in showers.
You will have your own car port and private patio with braai (barbeque) facilities, overlooking your own splash pool, with panoramic views of mountains and vineyards
Facilities
The large farm dam may be used for canoeing and fishing. It has been stocked with Tilapia and Bass for the angling enthusiasts. Canoes are available for use on the dam.
We also have bicycles for those who wish to explore the valley and get some exercise at the same time.
You are welcome to work up an appetite walking within the farm boundaries. There are also many hiking options available in the Tulbagh valley.
Buchanan's Brook Farm is close to all the wine & fruit farms, 4x4 trails, hiking trails, restaurants, galleries & shops of Tulbagh and the Tulbagh Valley. We would be happy to arrange visits to any of these.
The Farm
Owners Rod & Marika Buchanan bought the derelict farm in 2004 and are currently turning it into their dream home. A small vineyard was planted in 2005 and the first grapes will be harvested and turned into wine in 2008. Two half-hectare net-houses were erected in 2007 and tomatoes and other vegetables are being grown hydroponically. The farm itself is 44ha in extent and has a large dam.
