The Puglia Cheese story began with Davide & Ursula Ostuni's numerous holidays in South Africa and their passion for truly authentic Italian food. During their trips here they were able to find many authentic ingredients (at the cost of an arm & a leg), but one ingredient always eluded them, and that was fabulously fresh mozzarella; so their future in South Africa was decided and Puglia cheese was born."

Puglia cheese today produces not just the most authentic mozzarella in SA, but does so by hand; as done centuries ago producing cheese such as Burrata (a filled mozzarella ball, oozing with ripped mozzarella soaked in double cream), a customary stretched mozzarella, the knot-shaped Nodini and a more traditional mozzarella ball, the Fior di latte - roughly translated as the ‘Flower of the milk’. Puglia cheese also produces a semi-matured cheese - CACIOTTA made in honour of the new country that hosts them - this cheese is named PRIMO FIORE, ‘First flower’.

The original Cheese & Wine Pairings at Zevenwacht are now offered with these authentic Italian cheeses, promising a fresh taste experience with our wines. These cheeses can also be purchased at our Wine Tasting Centre’s new Cheese & Chocolate deli.

We are proud to be associated with Puglia Cheese, a truly authentic and award winning producer, who like ourselves, pays homage to heritage, tradition and family values.
