Our private picnic pods, on our lawn of Jordan Wine Estate, have breathtaking views of the Stellenbosch Kloof Valley and Stellenbosch Mountains and can accommodate 2-8 adults! Each basket is filled to the brim with delectable treats from The Cellar Door at Jordan. One picnic basket contains enough for two people. Picnics can be collected from 12:30 on the day of your booking. You’ll have access to your private pod until 16:00.
Picnic basket contents:
- Your basket will include a selection of in-house freshly baked ciabatta, herbed focaccia, and Cape seed loaf to accompany locally sourced charcuterie and locally produced hard and soft cheese, including Dalewood Camembert and Brie, Klein River Stanford, and De Pekelaar Boerenkaas.
- This will be accompanied by Jordan Estate pickled olives, homemade preserves, and spreads including Chef Thys’ aubergine atchar, spiced apple chutney, smoked hake and fennel pâté, and creamy savoury whipped butter.
- You will also receive homemade pitas filled with slow-cooked pulled pork, tri-colour slaw, with a Greek yoghurt dressing topped with coriander and spring onions. Enjoy with a green garden salad with orange, parmesan, walnuts, cranberries, and a poppy seed dressing.
- In case you are still not full, we will give you two petite savoury baked quiches, filled with roasted butternut, leek, and feta.
- Last but not least, something sweet to end the day.
- A selection of wines, beers, soft drinks, mocktails, and hot beverages can be purchased at The Cellar Door on the day when baskets are collected.
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for all picnic bookings.

Winter picnics 2023: 30 April – 30 September 2023
Picnics are weather permitting. The Cellar Door team will contact all guests 24 hours in advance if the weather predicts rain for the next day. Guests will be given the following choices:
- Move picnic to a new date.
- Enjoy the basket on the original date at the table inside The Cellar Door
- Change booking to A’la Carte
Pods are situated underneath trees and have plenty have shade but be sure to wear sunscreen and bring a hat!
Excluded: Transport to and from the estate. Meals, soft drinks, by the bottle purchases, by the glass purchases, merchandise.
