Mike worked with interior decorator Les Harbottle to create a space where diners have choices the smoking room, the bar lounge, the terraces and the cellar are all places with different moods where diners can find what they are looking for. High-backed sofa booths in the main dining area allow a sense of fun and privacy in what could have been a formal space.

Mike worked with interior decorator Les Harbottle to create a space where diners have choices the smoking room, the bar lounge, the terraces and the cellar are all places with different moods where diners can find what they are looking for. High-backed sofa booths in the main dining area allow a sense of fun and privacy in what could have been a formal space. Given Mike's belief that the dining experience is supposed to be relaxed, the kitchen is open-plan and the chefs in the kitchen wear butcher's aprons in a refreshing display of lack of pretentiousness.

Throughout the interiors there are subtle hints of Ginja and Shoga in the colours (greys, browns and orange) and the high ceilings. A pattern inspired by the ginger blossom flower is woven into the carpet and black chandeliers hang over the high-backed orange sofa booths.

With a nod to the fusion food, the bathrooms are designed to incorporate Eastern features, with elements from China and India. The toilets are designed to look completely foreign, like something in downtown Tokyo. The live TV feed from the kitchen (showing the chefs at work in the kitchen) to the bathrooms is a purely fun element.

Lunch offers an outdoor dining experience against the idyllic backdrop of the Vineyard Hotel gardens and Table Mountain, while the wide-spaced glass doors allow you to warm against colder weather without losing the panoramic view. Lunch also caters for the local corporate market and is a casual yet sophisticated affair, offering a selection of light salads, soups and pastries, as well as a wide selection of sandwiches prepared on freshly baked ciabatta or health bread. Our Main courses offer variety for all palates, while our selection of desserts will leave your taste buds tingling.

Myoga offers a contemporary fusion cuisine menu which entices the mind, excites the eye and tantalises the taste buds to new extremes. It is what Mike Bassett calls an "east meets west" menu as we cross a multitude of cultures and flavours. In addition, the restaurant offers a 6 Course Dinner Menu at R195 per head. An intricately paired wine package, constructed by sommelier Carl Heinz Habel, offers the opportunity to enjoy some of South Africa’s finest wines with the Menu.

private dining
The private dining table in the cellar is designed for those who don't want to be disturbed. Myoga's private dining can accommodate a private dinner party or corporate meeting of 10 to 16 guests. Raw-brick walls and wooden-beams add to the old-school ambience and diners can bring their own music to create their own mood, if desired. The menu is a la carte but the chef is happy to do tasting menus if requested as well as food and wine pairings.
