Fine London City dining since 2009, High Timber is the collaboration of Gary and Kathy Jordan from the acclaimed Jordan Wine Estate, and Neleen Strauss who has been burning the restaurant candle in London since 2001; prior to that in Johannesburg.
Called High Timber, which is the name of the ancient London street on which it is sited, the restaurant is close to the St Paul’s Cathedral side of the Millennium Bridge (the famous “Wobbly Bridge”).
South facing sun-drenched terrace with picturesque views of Shakespeare’s Globe, the Tate Modern and The Shard.
High Timber seats up to 70 people, and boasts two private dining rooms one situated within the red wine cellar and the larger room adjacent with glass walls into the red and white wine cellars.
The cellar represents friendships old and new from worldwide wine regions, but a heavy accent on Stellenbosch and surroundings. 20 000+ bottles all chosen with care and expertise by the owners.
The menu is everything you would expect from a modern, ethical restaurant. Honest cooking, great flavours and the Chef’s distinctive South African touch. Treat yourself to the Chef’s homemade biltong, biltong croquettes and rooibos tea smoked salmon.
English red meat leads the way; the menu also features locally sourced fish and top quality vegetarian produce.
