Peddlars on the Bend is without doubt one of the best known landmarks in Constantia. Having recently celebrated its 10th birthday, it is fortunate to have built up a substantial following of loyal customers. Like a good wine, Peddlars has matured well over the years, and for many tourists, (whether from up-country or overseas), a day in Constantia would not be complete without a visit to this popular establishment. Peddlars has a unique ambience and with versatile seating and dining in the restaurant, bar, and garden is perfectly positioned to cater for all tastes.

The restaurant is decorated in autumn colours with attractive drapes and plenty of prints creating a country-style theme, which is further enhanced by a traditional bamboo ceiling and a handsome feature fireplace. Throughout the winter months there is always a hearty fire to ensure that the restaurant is warm and cosy, whilst diners enjoy a relaxing Sunday lunch or a late night supper. On sunny days and warm evenings the attractive garden is filled to capacity with all available tables taken, and there is a superb indoor-outdoor flow from the bar (which has concertina doors that fold back) so that this area merges effortlessly into the garden. The well stocked bar offers local and imported beers, as well as a selection of cocktails, and in addition to the usual bar tables and stools, has comfy couches and its own fireplace.

The main menu embraces a combination of country and Mediterranean cuisine. Starter recommendations include the Parma Ham, Avo & Rocket, and the Aubergine Parmigiana which is ideal for vegetarians. The Chef's Soup varies from day to day with delicious combinations such as Mushroom & Blue Cheese, or Prawn & Pancetta, both of which are highly recommended. Salads are popular at lunch time with Mike's Feta & Avo 'Caesar' a firm favourite, closely followed by the Salmon & Courgette. Main course specialties are definitely the Calf's Liver with Sweet & Sour Onions, and the traditional Chicken & Leek Pie. There is always fresh fish available, and meat lovers will enjoy the Blockman's Choice which varies between rump, sirloin and t-bone depending on the quality of the cut. There is also a separate pub menu, which offers all the normal favourites such as Steak & Kidney Pie, Beef Burger & Chips, as well as Peddlars own version of the steak roll - the Ferrari Prego.
