The Hermitage Restaurant is situated on the historic Hazendal Wine Estate, restored by the current Russian-born owner, Dr Mark Voloshin.

The intimate Hermitage Restaurant is centred between the cosy lounge and the modern fermentation cellar, which can be viewed through the walls of glass.

The global a-la-carte menu includes a combination of South African, Russian and Mediterranean cuisine. Traditional meals include a Cape Malay Platter, Marinated Ostrich Fillet and the Chefs Hearty Meal of the day. The Russian influence includes Blinis with smoked salmon and caviar, Gruzia Shashlyk (pork kebabs) and Pashka, a sweetened cream cheese dessert.

A lovely fireplace in the lounge creates a warm welcome, and is a great place to relax after meal times, especially after one of Hazendals winter Gourmet evenings. There is comfortable seating for 50 people in the restaurant, with two adjoining courtyards. Outdoor seating on the patios affords beautiful views of the surrounding Bottelary mountains and hills. Visitors to Hazendal can enjoy delicious picnics with spectacular views, just as their predecessors did centuries ago when the farm was used as a popular refreshment stop for ox-wagon on their arduous trek between Stellenbosch and Cape Town.
