La Motte Music

culture in Franschhoek

OPEN TIMES
Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun
Concerts start at 19h00 promptly.

Music is an inherent part of the culture at La Motte. It is largely inspired by La Motte’s owner Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg, one of South Africa's leading mezzo-sopranos and acclaimed Lieder recitalist, under her professional name Hanneli Rupert.
Hanneli also oversees the Rupert Music Foundation which has provided continual support to symphonic orchestras and classical music in South Africa.

Classical music concerts showcase the finest performances by local as well as international artists of the highest esteem.

Guests are graced with the company of a Steinway dating back to 1942 – one of the last Steinway pianos manufactured in Hamburg before the factory closed due to World War II.  Following a family friendship with South African composer Rosa Nepgen, Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg acquired the Rosa Nepgen piano which is used for music in La Motte’s Tasting Room.
