Hiking Trail at Waverley Hills

Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun Hol

Waverley Hills Organic Wines is situated on the R46 between Tulbagh and Ceres, South Africa, at the foothills of the winter snow-capped Witzenberg Mountain Range with its diverse fynbos (indigenous floral eco system.)

We are proud to say that our fynbos has one of the riches diversities in the world therefore; we would like you to come and learn more.

We offer a 1.2km hiking trail to the top of the cellar.

There are benches higher up the trail to enjoy the ambiance. The benches are made from recycled plastic.

Part of our education plan is the information boards on the hiking trail. On these boards you will find the plants latten names, the common and family names, and also something interesting on the subject.

The garden is designed to educate the mind. The aim of the garden is to give the general public a bigger perspective on the veld and its plants.

The garden is divided into garden rooms:
•Medicinal plants
•Fynbos –Represent the higher altitudes
•Fynbos –Represent the local veld
•River Stream

We are currently working on a garden book with full colour photos and a map on where to find the plants.

In this book you will find some other useful information on the plants, for example if the plant is endangered, useful or what specific role it plays in the ecosystem.

The book will also consist of a list of references on the medicinal plants.

Regarding some entertainment for the kids, a jungle gym is available.

There are 2 boulles courts on the premises for all to enjoy.

So bring your friends and family and come and enjoy a fun filled day at Waverley Hills!
